Did you know that beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports among girls in the province? We think it's time for more youth volleyball players to take their game into the sand! Most recently, over a period of five years, Coach Ryan and Coach Krisha provided personal beach volleyball training and coaching for aspiring young female players in the Windsor-Essex region who were serious about their volleyball and aimed to compete on the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) Beach Tour during the spring and summer months. Our players even competed on the OVA Winter Tour in tournaments at indoor sand facilities to extend their season! We were proud to develop the first Team Ontario beach player in the region. Coach Ryan and Coach Krisha are currently offering programs for girls ages 10 and up in the Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford area who are interested in learning the game or playing competitively on the tour. As part of the Dynamic Beach Volleyball program, the girls are taught the physical, mental, and technical aspects of the beach game that will enable them to compete in OVA tournaments. Practice and training sessions are held year-round both indoors and outdoors with a low athlete-to-coach ratio. As a result, spots in the program are limited and tryouts are held for potential players. Indoor volleyball experience is recommended for players seeking to be competitive in the sand.
Ryan Hoy is the head coach of Dynamic Beach Volleyball. Ryan has taught physical education for a total of 16 years in both public and private schools in Toronto and Kitchener. He also brought his experience and expertise to the non-profit sector for 6 years through his work with Head Start Sports in Windsor.
Ryan graduated with distinction from the Kinesiology program at Wilfrid Laurier University and earned his teaching degree at the University of Windsor. From Windsor, he headed to Toronto where he built one of the most successful elementary school athletic programs in the city. Ryan has a track record of success in developing young athletes.
For 12 years, he has coached beach volleyball on the Ontario Volleyball Association tour with Dynamic Beach Volleyball. His youth teams have won several tournaments and many have finished in the top division at both the provincial and national level tournaments.
Ryan has dedicated himself to helping student athletes reach their potential throughout his teaching and coaching career and his work at Dynamic Beach Volleyball continues that mission.
Krisha Hoy is the associate coach of Dynamic Beach Volleyball. Krisha is a former provincial medalist in beach volleyball and has coached with Ryan for eight years. As a youth beach competitor for six years on the OVA tour, Krisha consistently competed in the Premier Division and was known for her tenacity and determination in the sand. She combined an unmatched work ethic with an impressive skill set that allowed her to succeed in a game that was often deemed to be only suitable for taller players. Krisha's physical training regimen vaulted her to a 30-inch vertical jump that made her a force to be reckoned with!
Krisha earned her Bachelor of Human Kinetics and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Windsor and she has taught for the past six years with the Waterloo Region District School Board.
Krisha's combination of playing experience and coaching experience serves as an inspiration to aspiring young girls who endeavour to take their game to another level. She remains a student of the game and knows what it takes to succeed at the competitive level!
At Dynamic Beach Volleyball, we design programs to meet the needs and goals of the young athlete. For players who are aiming to compete on the OVA Beach Tour, we provide year-round training and practice sessions to address the physical, mental, and technical aspects of the sport. We meet our athletes where they currently are and design programs that help them reach their goals in the sport, whether they are short-term or long-term. We train our athletes in the sand in the warmer months and in the gym during the winter months. When it's time to compete at a tournament, we travel to the event and provide coaching during the competition! Our commitment to our players doesn't end with tournament preparation. We are present to provide coaching support during matches.
As certified Beach Development coaches with physical education teaching experience, we are adept at developing the fundamental skills and strategies required by beginners in the sport. While some indoor volleyball experience is recommended before diving into the sand, we can help young athletes make the transition to the beach game.
